The Common Snook is characterized by his ultra sleek body, a flatened head, with jutting lower jaw. True to the alias as "lineside", a dark horizontal stripe runs the entire length of the fish. The snook is typically dark to black along the upper half and fading to silver or white on the bottom with fins that have a yellow tint. These fish are found around structure alond the flats, inlets, passes and mangroves and in the summer, in the surf and quite close to the shore.
